Pregnancy is a time of profound transformation of the body, the breath and the relationship with oneself.

The individual Prenatal Ashtanga Yoga class offers personalised support, adapting the practice of yoga to each stage of pregnancy.

In a calm and reassuring setting, you will receive entirely individualised teaching that respects your experience, your physical condition and the evolution of your pregnancy.

Classes are given exclusively by appointment.

Individual support during pregnancy

Every pregnancy is unique.

The needs of the body change month by month, as do the sensations, the available energy and the physical capacities.

Individual support makes it possible to adapt the practice to your particular situation, offering you a space of well-being, breathing and preparation for motherhood.

The aim is not postural performance but listening, presence and the development of a harmonious relationship with the changes that accompany pregnancy.

A practice adapted to each stage

The postures (Āsana)

The postures are selected and adapted according to:

  • the trimester of pregnancy;
  • your experience of yoga;
  • your physical condition;
  • your specific needs.

The emphasis is placed on:

  • mobility;
  • stability;
  • comfort;
  • preparing the pelvis;
  • body awareness.

The breath (Prāṇāyāma)

Breathing work holds a central place.

The breath helps to:

  • accompany the transformations of the body;
  • develop relaxation;
  • foster concentration;
  • gradually prepare for childbirth.

Simple, adapted exercises are offered according to each situation.

The foundations of the practice

Listening to the body

Pregnancy invites us to develop a particular attention to the body’s signals.

The class helps you learn to recognise and respect your needs while maintaining a suitable physical activity.

Stability and support

The postural work fosters the stability of the pelvis, balance and comfort in everyday movements.

Presence to oneself

Yoga becomes a privileged space to slow down, breathe and develop a more conscious relationship with yourself and with the child to come.

The Institute’s approach

At the Ashtanga Yoga Institute of Brussels, we pay particular attention to:

  • understanding the body;
  • the quality of the breath;
  • the safety of the practice;
  • individualised adaptation;
  • the caring support of each mother-to-be.

A deep knowledge of anatomy and years of teaching experience make it possible to adjust each session to the real needs of the practitioner.

What you will develop

Over the sessions, you can develop:

  • a better body awareness;
  • a calmer, deeper breath;
  • more mobility and comfort;
  • better stress management;
  • a more serene relationship with the transformations of pregnancy;
  • a gradual preparation for childbirth;
  • greater confidence in your abilities.

A practice of presence

Prenatal yoga is an invitation to slow down and cultivate the quality of presence.

Breath, movement and attention become precious resources to accompany this special time of life.

The practice gradually fosters inner calm, listening and confidence.

Who is this class for?

This class is for:

  • pregnant women wishing to practise yoga in an individualised setting;
  • beginner practitioners;
  • experienced practitioners wishing to adapt their practice to pregnancy;
  • mothers-to-be looking for personalised support.

No prior experience of yoga is required.

Your path at the Institute

The prenatal class is a specific form of support adapted to pregnancy.

It can represent:

  • a discovery of yoga;
  • a continuity of practice during pregnancy;
  • a physical and respiratory preparation for motherhood.

Some practitioners then continue their discovery of yoga through the group classes offered by the Institute.
