the daughter of the king of the Himalayan mountains, the reincarnation of Satī,, “the girl of the mountain”, female consort, śakti, that is to say the instrument of the procreative power of Śiva, mother of Ganesh. She is also the queen of elves and spirits roaming the earth, and the captain of the Gana. It is usually represented as benevolent feminine counterpart of Śiva.
