Pongal

It is the feast of the harvest of rice and appreciation, fixed anywhere in India on 14 January. It is usually celebrated in family, at home and it lasts four days, this is one of the most colourful festivals of South India. Bhogi, the first day, old fabrics and garments are discarded and burned; Pongal, the second day is put to boil the new rice with milk fresh and molasses; Mattu Pongal, the third day, is intended to give thanks to the animals (cows, buffaloes, etc)  Kanum Pongal, the last day, people offers and consume a piece of sugar cane.
