Rémy Mendelzweig

Since 2010

A former physics and philosophy teacher, Rémy Mendelzweig discovered yoga following a profound personal questioning. Today he transmits a practice attentive to the whole person, nourished by Ashtanga Yoga, pedagogy and the accompaniment of people made vulnerable by illness or the trials of life.

A path of practice and transmission

For nearly thirty years, Rémy taught physics and philosophy to students preparing for the baccalaureate and higher education.

This long teaching experience allowed him to develop a deep sensitivity to human questioning, to the search for meaning and to accompanying each person in their personal development.

In 2010, a major personal crisis led him to question his way of life. Affected physically and psychologically, he undertook a search that led him to yoga.

The effects of the practice on his physical, emotional and inner balance were immediate.

This discovery marked a decisive turning point in his life.

He then followed several yoga teacher trainings in Austria, Israel and then India, in the Sivananda tradition. Wishing to deepen his understanding of yoga at its source, he stayed in various ashrams of the Himalayas and took part in an advanced « Master of Yoga » training.

Later, his encounter with the Ashtanga Yoga Institute and the teaching of Jean-Claude Garnier opened a new stage in his path of practice and transmission.

A way of teaching

Rémy’s teaching is deeply marked by his life experience.

Having himself discovered yoga during a period of personal rebuilding, he pays particular attention to the way the practice can accompany people facing illness, fatigue, stress or the trials of existence.

His approach combines the precision of traditional teaching with an attentive listening to the real capacities of each person.

For him, yoga is not reserved for people in perfect health or for experienced practitioners.

It is above all a tool for gradually regaining stability, confidence, energy and autonomy.

What yoga has taught him

Yoga entered Rémy’s life at a time when he needed to regain a physical and inner balance.

This personal experience still inspires his way of teaching today.

Over the years, he has observed how much regular practice can become a precious resource for people going through periods of vulnerability.

His work has also led him to train in accompanying people with cardiovascular or cancer-related conditions, in order to better understand how to adapt yoga to particular situations.

For him, yoga remains above all a path of transformation accessible to everyone.
