A place full of memories
It was here, in 1991, on the highest terrace of the hotel — under a “tent” to shelter from the rain and the sun — that Jean-Claude led his first Ashtanga Yoga sessions in Mahābalipuram. What memories… A magnificent Ganesh still welcomes you in the middle of the courtyard. The Green Woods Beach Resort sits right in the heart of the village, very close to the ocean (3 min) and the restaurants — lively, and therefore a little noisy.

Our view
The 20 rooms are split into standard and executive (ground level); cleanliness is “Indian”, meaning fairly average, and the rooms — air-conditioned or not — are a little dark. The first-floor restaurant lacks real charm. A friendly welcome, and free Wi-Fi. Only a few trees now remain of the once-beautiful garden.
