Djavastambha

is a “metal flag door” lying in the inner courtyard in front of the temple entrance in South India. The djavastambha is a long pole made of brass or golden bronze. At its base, there is often a square shaped pedestal finely carved with images from deities. The banner of the temple is exhibited during religious feasts.
