”(city of King Bali) is located in Tamil Nadu at 60 km south of Chennai. This charming little town is renowned in the world for its “Shore Temple” built on a promontory sticking in the Bay of Bengal. It has fascinating ruins dating from the time of the Pallavas, during the fifth and eighth century. A major “Indian Classical Dance Festival” takes place there every year from late December to late January. It”s an important archaeological site listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site since 1985. It”s there where Jean Claude Garnier is teaching Ashtanga Yoga since 1993, twice a year.
