Ashtanga Yoga –Mysore Style
In an Ashtanga Yoga ” Mysore style” class, practitioners do their own practice at their own pace, while receiving advice and individual adjustments from the teacher.
This requires that you have memorized the postural order of the series that you practice. According to your possibilities and your pace, new postures will gradually be added.
The attention of the teacher is there to help you develop and refine your personal Sādhana (practice) and to ensure that the rhythm of your breathing is synchronized with the viniyasa movements (links between postures) in coordination with the control of the pelvic floor (mūla bandha).
Learning to listen and to move in synchronization with your breathing will help you to progress more in depth and to become the actor of your actions. This will help you develop a State of deep consciousness so that practice gradually becomes a meditation in movement.
Having a personal practice is an invaluable tool that you can always have at your disposal, be it during a Mysore style class, or at home, on a trip. ….
A “Mysore Style” yoga class is a trip towards the Essential…
When following a directed yoga class, the mind tends to stay outside. In a “Mysore style” class, the mind and the sense organs will gradually go inward; it is what is called Pratyāhāra in the Yogasūtra of Patanjali.
No pre-registration is necessary, just look at the schedule of the classes and come and participate.
