How would she come to the inactive? This isn&#8217;t simply by reading the treaties on yoga that perfection can be born&#8221;<br \/>\nHa\u1e6dhay\u014dgaprad\u012bpik\u0101, I, 65<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>The way of the body<\/strong> <strong>(Kaya\u00a0S\u0101dhan\u0101)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The word <strong>\u201c\u0101sana\u201d<\/strong> means <strong>position, posture, attitude and foundation. <\/strong>For the Indian sculptor, the position or physical bearing serves as a sign language and an emotional language codified and known by all. Hence, the postures of yoga represent archetypical figures. Present life shows but one stage in a multitude of successive lives that have as their common goal being painful and of which one absolutely needs to disengage oneself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Transmigration, pain, deliverance\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For Indian thought, the existence of the soul is a given. This primitive belief was already held in prehistory. Actually, in the most ancient scriptures known, the individual soul presents itself as the pillar of all vital functions of man. The soul, (<strong>\u0100tman<\/strong>) is the \u201cbreath\u201d, the \u201cbreath of life\u201d (<strong>Pr\u0101\u1e47a<\/strong>) par excellence, and the foundation of other breaths of life. It resides in the body and penetrates it completely.<\/p>\n<p>The framework of yoga is very well defined in the <strong>Yoga S\u016btra<\/strong> or Yogas\u016btra. The practitioner needs to learn to observe, to feel without complacence or remonstrance, to search for the state of transparency of self. Being true to oneself.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the chapter<strong> S\u0101dhana p\u0101da <\/strong>of the<strong> Yoga Sutra, Pata\u00f1jali<\/strong> describes <strong>Ashtanga Yoga. \u201cHere are the eight limbs (a\u1e45ga), stages or branches of Royal Yoga (R\u0101ja-Yoga)\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The prohibitions, <strong>yama<\/strong> ( \u092f\u092e ) or yamar\u0101ja ( \u092f\u092e\u0930\u093e\u091c )<\/li>\n<li>The injunctions, <strong>niyama<\/strong> (\u0928\u093f\u092f\u092e ), five in number<\/li>\n<li>The physical posture, the <strong>\u0101sana<\/strong> ( \u0906\u0938\u0928 ) 8 400 000 in number, the most well known: padm\u0101sana<\/li>\n<li>Respiratory discipline, <strong>pr\u0101\u1e47\u0101y\u0101ma<\/strong> ( \u092a\u094d\u0930\u093e\u0923\u093e\u092f\u093e\u092e ), which strictly prescribes inspiration and expiration in the postural practice and the holding of the breath in the techniques controlling the breath.<\/li>\n<li>The retraction of the senses, <strong>praty\u0101h\u0101ra<\/strong>, which leads the wise to<\/li>\n<li>Concentration, dh\u0101ra\u0146\u0101 ( \u0927\u093e\u0930\u0923 ) which is pursued through<\/li>\n<li>Meditation, <strong>dhy\u0101na<\/strong> ( \u0927\u094d\u092f\u093e\u0928 ) which is accomplished through<\/li>\n<li>The achievement and the contemplation of the Spirit, <strong>Sam\u0101dhi.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThe body is like a flesh, the soul (\u0101tman) is its master, intelligence (buddhi) is its driver, the spirit (manas) plays the part of the reins, as to the horses, these are the senses (indriya): the world is their course.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>Ka\u1e6dha Upani\u1e63ad or Ka\u1e6dhopani\u1e63ad 3.3<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What yoga proposes is hence disciplining the human <strong>\u201cvehicle\u201d<\/strong> in its various aspects: perceptions and actions with sensuality and corporality, emotions and thoughts with mind and intelligence.
