Upaniṣad

(pronounced Upanishad) this term means “to come and sit down respectfully at the feet of a master in order to listen to his teaching”. It refers to a collection of philosophical texts containing the central concepts of Indian thought. It differs from the oldest major Upaniṣads composed between 900 and 500 BC and minor Upaniṣad writings dating back to – 200 and + 1300 AD.
