Perineum

Latin word meaning around the evacuation routes. It’s a set of muscles extending from the front of the pubis to the coccyx. The perineum supports the abdominal organs (bladder, uterus, bowel). Some women experience after childbirth a perineal trauma. They have to reacquire elasticity and tonicity of the perineal muscle. It is the first part of Mūla Bandha in Aṣṭāṅga Yoga practice, it is the base of the body control : the pelvic floor with the abdominal subwoofer control. Mūla Bandha practice will allow to join apana Vāyu (the energy of the lower body) Prana Vāyu (the energy of the chest)
