a Sanskrit term meaning “power of the senses” or “control of the senses”. According to Indian philosophical schools (āstika), senses exist in different numbers (10, 11, 26, etc. For example
– vision ( cakkh – indriya)
– hearing (Noun – indriya )
– smell (Ghan – indriya)
– taste ( jivh – indriya)
– touch (Kay- indriya)
– thought (manas – indriya)
– physical pleasure (sukh – indriya)
– physical pain (dukkh – indriya)
– mental joy (somanasa – indriya)
– mental pain (domanass – indriya)
– equanimity (upekhha – indriya)
