‘he was born in Porbandar in Gurujat on October 2, 1869 and assassinated in New Delhi, January 30, 1948. He was nicknamed in India and in the world Mahatma Gandhi, “High souled”. He studied law in England and developed in South Africa a method of civil disobedience against apartheid. As spiritual leader of India, he fought non-violently for the freedom and the independence of India and became one of the fathers (Bapu) of the nation.
